Contemporary Mathematics Education (CME) Conference
The CME CME’24 take place in Lublin, Poland on 24-27 June 2024.
The event contain plenary lectures, working seminars, paper presentations, workshops, and poster presentations.
Contemporary Mathematics Education Conference (formerly known as Children’s Mathematical Education Conference) is a biennial conference which takes place in various locations in Poland and aims to bring together scholars from neighbouring countries, but also from all over the world.
Aim and focus
The conference is intended as a working meeting for those who are interested in teaching mathematics at all educational levels. This means that the conference is addressed to:
teacher trainers involved in:
pre-service teacher training
in-service teacher training
researchers interested in all aspects of teaching and learning mathematics (establishment of mathematical concepts and procedures, development of mathematical thinking, teacher-student interactions, teaching processes, textbook analysis, etc.)
mathematicians, who want to enhance their teaching at school
reflective practitioners (teachers).
Activities
Plenary lectures: One-hour-long lectures during which the invited speakers focus on topics related to the conference theme. The plenary lectures provide a shared contribution to the conference and form a base for discussions during the working seminars.
Working seminars: Each participant is invited to be a member of one of the working seminar groups that will meet several times during the conference. Discussions and exchange of experiences and ideas are the essential aspects of this activity, which is why the working seminars are considered the most important part of the conference. Each group is coordinated by leaders and the activities are usually focused on the following educational levels:
kindergarten and primary school (3–9-year-olds)
primary school (10–13-year-olds)
secondary and upper-secondary school (14–18-year-olds).
Research Reports: Parallel sessions of 20-minute oral presentations, followed by a 10-minute discussion. The oral presentations refer to studies related to the theme of the conference.
